Barangay Kanlurang Palale is a secluded community located near the mountains of Tayabas City, Quezon Province. It is divided into seven (7) sub-communities or “purok” with 45 households. The main source of income of the residents here is farming and selling household items, such as mugs, buckets, basins, and kitchen utensils.
For the past 20 years, the residents have been enduring the rough road leading to their barangay. Its lack of lighting fixtures has made it even difficult for them to use this road, especially at night when it’s pitch black. Because Barangay Kanlurang Palale is located at a higher terrain, it has become an everyday challenge for them and risk to their safety to pass through here, more so in times of emergency.
Recently, the LGU of Tayabas City Installed solar lights in the pathways leading to Purok 2, Purok 3, Purok 4, Purok 5, and Purok 7 for the safety of the residents. Unfortunately, the installation of solar lights leading to Purok 1 and Purok 6 has not yet been completed due to insufficient funding. These remaining two areas are relatively more remote compared to the other communities and the people who live here are still experiencing the challenges of having an underdeveloped pathway on a day-to-day basis.
The residents of Purok 1 and Purok 6 are still hoping that the road to their communities will be much safer through solar lights and that their enduring of the dark road for more than 20 years will come to an end. The installation of the solar light for the two communities would cost Php 59,974.00. Help us and be their source of hope by raising funds for the residents of Kanlurang Palale for their installation of solar light.
