Pedro and Patricia Lim GK Village is situated in Purok 3, Banlasan Trinidad, Bohol. It is 9 kilometers away from the town proper and 100 meters away from a pilgrimage site that is considered a tourist attraction by their Local Government Unit. The community houses 19 families that heavily rely on agriculture as their source of living. This village has been awarded 1.5 hectares of land by the donors, where the community plans to start their Goodbye Gutom program. This program aims to provide food security to the families in the village (and its neighbors) through agriculture.
One important aspect of this project is the provision of water. They have 2 existing wells in the vicinity, but they have no resources to purchase containers that will allow them to take water and store them in different parts of the farm. The families need to have containers for each garden plot for rain harvesting and efficiency in watering their produce, which will result in a more fruitful harvest.
The community targets to purchase 19 water containers, which will allow each family in this village to utilize the donated land for their household’s food security. 1 container costs PHP 1,700.00.
The farming community in this village is excited to start this new journey. They aim to not only be able to provide food for their households but also cater to the tourists visiting their town’s pilgrimage site and their neighboring barangays.
