Cabuga Elementary School is located in Sitio Cabuga, Barangay Santa Teresa, Loreto, Agusan del Sur. There are 164 students, 60% of which are Indigenous People from the Manobo Tribe and 40% are mix Bisaya and Ilonggo. The school has 4 concrete classrooms, 2 makeshift rooms, and 1 stage which they use as classroom area for Grade 5 students. They currently have 6 teachers, including the principal.
The school principal is very hands-on in guiding the Parents and Teachers Association (PTA). The parents of the children render a "Kalinga Sa Bayan" activity as a group and are also involved in other school activities, like the Globe Konekt feeding program. The school principal also agreed to volunteer as resource person for the values formation programs that are conducted within their community by Gawad Kalinga.
The principal shared that the school needs a lot of help, especially in the infrastructure for the rooms of the students. She also stressed their difficulty in printing their modules for the students because they lack computers and printers. Some teachers even have to go to the town proper in order to gain access to a printer for their modules.
This fundraiser aims to help ease one of the main challenges of the faculty of Cabuga Elementary School. Through funds raised, they aim to purchase:
- Computer Set with Table
- Colored Printer
- Other Office Supplies (ex. bind paper, ink, etc.)
