Barangay Tacasan is found in the northern part of Luzon, specifically in the municipality of Macabebe, Pampanga. In general, the place is quite accessible by land transportation being only 2 hours away from Metro Manila. Despite this, there are still some communities within this barangay that are challenged with transportation, especially those located by a major river in the area which also causes flooding during typhoon season.
97 households in Purok 4, 73 households in Purok 5, and 67 households in Purok 6 - 237 families in total. These are the families who are striving everyday to go to school and work to be able to provide better lives and opportunities for their families. Their current main mode of transportation are boats as these communities are surrounded by water, unlike their neighbors who are more accessible by tricycles and motorcycles.
The barangay itself does not own any motorized boats to be used by its residents. They have sent proposals to the local government units, but have yet to receive a response. The barangay officials are concerned that if they are not able to procure motorized boats as soon as possible, this will be a hindrance for them to reach the 237 families in Purok 4, 5, and 6, especially when it comes to delivering relief/help during calamities.
Today, the residents are working together towards battling this pandemic and their everyday challenges. Solidarity is definitely alive and through this project, they aim to further improve the residents’ quality of life by providing more accessible and convenient modes of transportation for everyday use.
