When an act of kindness multiplies, it helps more people. Everyone can help, no matter how small or big. As long as it comes from the heart, we can persuade more people to help. Financial scarcity is not an obstacle to helping those who are in need.
Quezon City is one of the largest cities in the Philippines with the most coronavirus cases when covid-19 pandemic affected the country, leaving more families and their children hungry. KnK Sitio Pajo was established way back in 2015 but was unfortunately closed in 2018. But with the sudden rise of hunger, Kusina ng Kalinga had to take action and reopen the kitchen to care for the hungry children in the community. Huge thank you to all our Nanay volunteers who wake up early to prepare nutritious meals and to our partners who continue to support our cause. We are now feeding 302 kids daily—sometimes, we can even provide meals to an additional 300 kids!
“Mas marami pang mga bata ang gustong kumain. Kahit ano puwede ihain sa kanila.” said Tita Richie Denzo, kitchen manager of KnK Sitio Pajo. A blessing is a blessing for these kids, no matter how small or big, they will always be grateful for your help.
Salvacion Gualva is one of the kitchen volunteers at GK Sitio Pajo. She is a mother and a plain housewife. She is one of the Mabuhay Ladies in the community, actively participates in the GK activities, and offering help to her neighbours has been her passion. She volunteered to help feed the 300 children after hearing about the reopening of the community kitchen. I love to help, Nanay Salvacion exclaimed. Nanay Salvacion wakes up early from Monday to Friday to cook nutritious foods with 21 Nanay volunteers. They were happily preparing the food for the kids.
We are extending our heartfelt gratitude to all those who made this initiative a reality. Your selflessness has made a significant impact on the lives of 300 kids in GK Sitio Pajo. May your kindness inspire others to join in the noble cause of leaving no child behind.
