Barangay Dahican boasts a white-sand beach shaded by palm trees along Pujada Bay. Divers and snorkelers often see sea turtles and dolphins in the water. The residents rely on fishing as their primary source of income. The sea is teeming with marine resources, and the fishermen in the community catch an abundance of fish and other aquatic treasures.
The residents cherish and protect the ocean and its surroundings as it sustains their livelihood. They revere and protect sea animals because they have been their companions for generations and contribute to their community's tourism industry.
The shores of Dahican are a vital nesting ground for sea turtles, and the locals preserve this natural habitat. Sadly, in January 2024, the local centre and turtle hatchery were destroyed by a powerful shear line. The materials used in construction were not durable enough to withstand the force of the elements.
The local volunteers are seeking financial aid to rebuild a durable hatchery centre to ensure the safety of the sea turtles, entrusting that their eggs are safe on the beach until they hatch and may come back to the sea.
Join us in raising funds to rehabilitate a volunteer hub and turtle hatchery in Barangay Dahican. Your support will empower more volunteers and help with the reproduction of sea turtles in the country. Let's contribute to this good cause and help conserve aquatic wildlife!
