Barangay Griño has a flat terrain, which makes it an ideal location for cultivating rice and vegetables. Ilongos dominate this barangay, accounting for nearly 90% of the population. The remaining 10% belong to different ethnic groups, such as Maguindanao, Ilocano, Cebuano, and Tagalog.
One of the concerns in the community is the issue of learning poverty experienced by students due to factors like poverty, lack of access to quality education, and the adverse effects of the COVID-19 pandemic on schooling.
To note, during the pandemic, many students in the community faced difficulties in answering their modules because their parents were also non-readers. Weak learning abilities among children may have significant consequences for their future growth, their families, and the community. This can lead to students failing or dropping out of school, which can increase their chances of encountering social marginalization and violence.
To address this particular issue, a group of youths in the community came together and initiated a tutorial program to assist these students in answering their modules.
This fundraising campaign aims to continue and strengthen what the youths of the community have started and to raise funds to address the challenges faced by students in Barangay Griño and combat learning poverty among children. To achieve this, we plan to implement tailored interventions that focus on improving reading comprehension. By providing targeted resources, personalized guidance, and a conducive learning environment, we aim to help non-reader students develop the necessary skills to comprehend and analyze texts effectively. This support will not only enhance their academic performance but also equip them with crucial life skills that will benefit them throughout their educational journey and beyond.
Join us on our mission to support the GAWAD KALINGAs' ARAL program. Contributing to this fundraising effort can assist non-readers and slow-readers in Barangay Griño in achieving academic success. Help us make a difference today by donating to this worthy cause and helping these students receive the education they deserve.
