The GK Batu Itum is located in Barangay Alu Layag-Layag, Parang, Sulu. The community has a group of women (a group of mothers) that runs a small business, a mini-grocery store, in their community. One of their primary sources of income and livelihood is the mini-grocery store, where they sell various items and products to their neighbours and nearby barangays. One of their difficulties is the lack of electricity in their area, which limits their ability to store and preserve fresh meat and poultry. It has an impact on their product quality and variety, as well as their profit margins and customer satisfaction.
To address the absence of electricity in their town, the ladies who run the mini-grocery store are requesting a solar power system capable of powering refrigerators in their business. Solar panels, batteries, inverters, and other accessories will be erected on the store's roof as part of the solar power system. The solar power system will not only allow them to keep and sell fresh meat and poultry products, but it will also minimize their dependency on fossil fuels and contribute to environmental sustainability. On top of that, the solar power system will benefit GK's Kusina Ng Kalinga+ Community Kitchen. It's a feeding program that serves nutritious meals to children in Sulu's public schools and neighbourhoods. The women of GK Batu Itum are also volunteers at the Kusina Ng Kalinga+ Community Kitchen, and they will keep part of the ingredients and food items they produce for the feeding program in the freezers.
By supporting the small livelihood program operated by a group of women in GK Batu Itum through this solar power system, you will be able to help them install an eco-friendly source of electricity to keep their products fresh. This will go a long way in ensuring that the ingredients for the community kitchen continue to serve nutritious food for the children.
All the proceeds from this fundraising campaign will be utilized to purchase the necessary materials to set up a solar power source for the community's sari-sari store. This will help the community members earn more profit and will also help the community kitchen in their feeding program.
Your generosity will change the lives of the locals in GK Batu Itum. Your kindheartedness could be life-changing for them, giving them hope and the opportunity to start a new life and be a source of hope.
