Barangay Mataguiti in Macabebe, Pampanga, is a coastal area. Rivers and fish ponds surrounded this town. Its neighbouring barangays are Barangay San Juan, Barangay Saplad David, and Barangay Castuli, all located in a coastal area.
Fishing is the primary source of income for the locals. Because the only mode of transportation from the village to the city and school is by banca, the fisherman also uses their banca for transportation services as an additional source of income. The trip generally takes approximately 20 to 30 minutes. The price for round-trip transportation starts at 50 pesos per passenger.
Easy and consistent transportation services are one of the residents' concerns, especially those who do not have a banca. To be able to cross, they have to wait for an available banker. This was their concern for a long time. There was an instance when locals, particularly students, had difficulty travelling to school, especially during casting season, because fishermen prioritized their primary job. As a result, the students had to wait a long time for the Banca, which caused them to be late or miss class. The local barangay has one banca to serve the 960 residents which is not enough to serve their constituents.
The objective of this fundraising effort is to acquire a motorized banca that is "12 in length and 110 in width" and can carry 20 passengers, to assist the residents and especially the students of Barangay Mataguiti with their daily transportation needs. The Banca will be managed by the barangay council, which is led by Captain Crisanto C. Cancio, as soon as it is granted. The parents of the students that will acquire the transportation services will pay one hundred pesos per month for boat maintenance.
