When an act of kindness multiplies, it helps more people. Everyone can help, no matter how small or big. As long as it comes from the heart, we can persuade more people to help. Financial scarcity is not an obstacle to helping those who are in need.
The installation of a water pipeline was first proposed in Barangay Congan in Glan, Sarangani. Still, due to the effects of the recent barangay and SK elections, the current officiating barangay official is not on good terms with the landowner. Due to this, the operations teams need to change the location to install the water system. The team has seen the needs of Kapatan Integrated School, which is a lack of water accessibility, so they decided to transfer the water system project to Barangay Kapatan, where the school is located. This barangay is also in the municipality of Glan. The water system was installed within the premises of Kapatan Integrated School.
Kapatan Integrated School is one of the beneficiaries of the GK and CPG initiative partnership in barangay Kapatan in Glan, Sarangani Province. 70% of the students are IPs from the Blaan tribe, and most of their parents are fishermen. The school is unique because of the culture embodied by students, who embody values and ideals such as generosity, courage, bravery, and traditions.
The students fetch water from the water pump inside the school. They use it to maintain the cleanliness of the comfort room and the handwashing facilities. They also collect water from the water pump for cooking and cleaning the equipment used for the feeding program. Fetching water from the distant water pump station poses a significant challenge for the students and kitchen volunteers at the school.
The operations teams have observed the difficulties that students and staff were experiencing because of the distance of the water pump to the school facilities. To address this issue, they decided to reroute the installation of a water pipeline to the school. Installation of a water pipeline will be easier because the school already has a water system. The new and enhanced water system will significantly improve the current state and make it simpler for children and school personnel to obtain water.
Installing the new and established water system with pipeline started on December 5, 2023, and ended on December 27, 2023. During the installation process, the community faced some difficulties because of the earthquake experienced in the region. As the situation calmed down, they continued the installation. ARAL, SIPAG, and Yamang Kalusuguan volunteers' support enabled the installation to be completed earlier.
We are extremely grateful for your efforts in making this project a reality. Seeing what we can achieve when we work together is truly inspiring. The recipients of this project express their sincere appreciation to every person involved. Let's continue to nurture our spirit of generosity and work towards building even stronger and more resilient communities.
