Help a local group of women in San Vicente, Baguio City, become self-sustaining through the sustainable livelihood program. This project will help women become empowered and self-sufficient.
The KALIPI Organization is an organization of women with the mission of assisting them in achieving self-sufficiency and continuing to be well-organized, well-respected, and fully empowered members of their community. Involving women in the community and supporting women's rights are part of the effort to achieve gender equality.
This group is known in the barangay as one of the most active groups in all barangay activities and nearby schools. They also joined Gawad Kalinga's volunteer activities, like GK's first Bayani Challenge at Atok and rolling out training seminars to all barangays in Atok and Tublay regarding organic farming way back in 2020 in partnership with ACTED.
The San Vicente KALIPI group began on August 17, 2017, with 55 members. To help its members supplement their income and meet the needs of their families, they had the idea to establish a livelihood initiative to manufacture peanut butter since Baguio City is a well-known tourist destination in the country.
They started manufacturing peanut butter in September 2017. The group aims to improve production to give their customers a good product. They were seeking assistance to help them raise money to buy a peanut grinder. They aim to have one because it is difficult to travel to the market every day to grind peanuts, especially when it rains frequently, the line is long, and some of them inevitably get sick, especially during rainy seasons.
They will have a much steadier income if they have their peanut grinder; they will no longer need to go to the market to grind their peanuts; there will be no more long queues, and they will save money and time. Additionally, because they were the ones who ground their raw materials, their finished product will be considerably more textured and of higher quality. They can finish their work earlier than expected and deliver their goods on schedule.
Help these local groups of women in San Vicente, Baguio City, raise funds for their peanut grinder to have a sustainable livelihood income to enable their members to earn an adequate income to sustain their family's daily needs. Support us as we build more sustainable communities to end poverty.
