The residents in St. Anne Tomball Texas VII GK Village in Brgy. Mahayahay, Digos City, Davao del Sur were former informal settlers of the barangay who did not have permanent shelter and were tenant farmers, which was their main source of livelihood. Most of them used to earn an avergae income of PHP 100.00 per day (seasonal) depending on the harvest of sugarcane. Although blessed with natural resources, the residents are constatly challenged to provide for their families on a daily basis.
Through the help of the local government and private partners, they have obtained a more permanent form of shelter, which resulted to a resilient community who doesn't give up in the face of challenges. Today, they continue to struggle to provide for their families' basic needs. On top of that, they are also concerned about their source of water supply as their scheduled water access as a barangay is only from 6:00 PM to 6:00 AM.
As a community, they would like to conduct a fundraising campaign to raise resources amounting to PHP 50,000 in order to build a water sotrage tank for the residents. This will help the families gain access to water during the day as well for their household needs such as cooking, washing, and etc.
